Eating Away '08

(viewed 28 times)
At the close of every year we promise ourselves a healthier new year. Now living a healthy, active lifestyle comes isn't much of a change to me. Which is why I had to end 2008 with a bang! Apparently all the pieces fell into place while I was working my shift at The Pond on New Years Eve. I was talking with my co workers, Vincent and Jesus, about the upcoming year and this was dropped off at our office. We were in shock by its size, I mean who wouldn't be. A two pound rice krispy treat is impressive as it is awesome! Being the health conscious freaks that Jesus and I are, we check the nutrition label on the back. It stated that it serves 20 people, but we all chuckled at the idea. Shortly after smirking and taking pictures, we decided to sink our teeth into the giant. To make a long story short, we basically split the rice krispy treat between the three of us. Maybe this labels us as fat asses, but you know what... You'd do the same thing if you and two other friends stumbled across one of these. I mean it's almost an insult if you don't! At any rate, I wish you a Happy New Year!

Gallery a la Pond

One of the many benefits of being an assistant manager of a popular New York ice skating rink is the ability to roam around the pavilion aimlessly. While I was visiting Jon, my friend and fellow "Carloswritesblog" writer, I stumbled across this hidden "art gallery". I always knew the bag check position was boring, but I never knew we had such talented artists working it. Above is a shot of the overall "gallery" and some of my favorites including a well drawn layout of the pavilion's interior.

Supermarket Love

I may be one of the few men who love to food shop. After spending a few hours at my girlfriend's house, her family and I went food shopping in order to prepare dinner. While pushing the cart down the aisles I started to day dream about having my own apartment. If you were to visit me these items would be at your finger tips.

Pretty People Win?

I was walking around the Greenwich Village streets and stumbled across this sign at a local Sushi bar. Now it's obvious the sign was smudged for humor purposes... well mission accomplished! It's a small, simple alteration, but created a decent size laugh. They say attractive people go far in society, but 10% off their plate?

Happy Birthday: Palin Power!

(viewed 119 times)
This past Friday I made my way up to Atlantic City for a night to celebrate one of my best friends' birthday. We spent the night at Caesars and dined at the Borgata. The buffet at the Borgata was amazing, I recommend eating there once in your life time. After eating and living through an interesting night, we packed our bags and left Saturday afternoon. But before we went in the car, we decided to grab breakfast/lunch and I stumbled across this priceless t-shirt. This shirt caught my attention for obvious reasons, but I don't know if it's mocking her or promoting her? I'm leaning towards mocking her, but with the "Rosie the Riveter" reference who knows?

Scratching The Itch.

Back in my highschool days, I used to be heavily into skateboarding. It was like therapy to me (as is basketball). When ever something was wrong, I used to get on my board and ride. For a brief moment I felt like I could escape the world the further I went. Due to an accident I stopped skating for the past 5 years. Now I'm not a Tony Hawk or P-Rod, but let's just say street tricks had landed me a fair share of bumps and bruises. On Friday I decided to scratch the itch to start riding again. When I first started years back I ordered a complete deck from Girl. I have no complaints looking back, that board went through it all. This time I wanted to start from scratch, so I went to Paragon Sporting Goods by Union Square and assembled a board. I had to admit choosing a deck was a hard decision, but the look and feel of the space invaders deck just felt right. It's equipped with 60mm Bob Burnquist wheels and Independent trucks. The next few weeks are going to be fun!

Computer Love

In the midst of reading... boredom approach slowly, but surely. I decided to take a picture of my desktop, which is a picture of my (former) girlfriend and I... comic book style. Excuse my randomness, but I enjoy seeing wallpapers people choose for their desktops. I think it shows a hint of their personality. Anyone care to share?

Killer Tee

As a lover of music, I find myself buying a decent amount of band shirts. But when I stumble across shirts like this which feature a classic video game such as Mega Man, I get excited. Seriously, how awesome is this!
